Rock festival to spread across Ibiza

Long known for late night clubbing and house music, Ibiza‘s status and reputation have shifted in recent years, as indie rock music has permeated the scene on the small Spanish island.

Encore Beach Club opening soon in Las Vegas

A hotel tycoon has unveiled plans for his latest hotel and entertainment complex, which will be open in time for those choosing holidays in Las Vegas this summer.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that Encore Beach Club and Surrender nightclub will be open by the end of May, and is expected to be a major centre for Las Vegas nightlife. The 60,000 square foot complex will offer 26 cabanas and eight large bungalows for visitors to the adult pool, while the Surrender nightclub itself will be open-air and incorporate an upscale restaurant and daytime beach party to create a 24-hour, day and night experience that is hoped to lure trendsetters away from European hotspots.

Cold snap drives boost in exotic holidays

British holidaymakers are increasingly taking longer flights to warmer destinations, spurred on by the recent cold snap to enjoy holidays in the Maldives and other exotic destinations.

Kent News reports that travel agents have seen bookings for long haul flights increasing for a wide range of destinations around the world, including flights to Singapore, Kenya and the Caribbean. It seems that after experiencing the coldest winter in almost 30 years, British travellers are turning away from last year’s trend of ‘staycations’ in favour of package holidays in far-flung destinations outside of the eurozone, where prices are often much cheaper.

High speed rail to enable faster travel on Florida holidays

A new high speed rail link that will connect Orlando and Tampa is expected to make travel between the state’s tourism hotspots easier than ever for those on holidays in Florida.

WTSP.com reports that the $2.5 billion (£1.7 billion) project has already been half paid-for with stimulus money, and will connect Florida’s holiday capitals of Orlando and Tampa by 2015. The five planned stations for the first phase of the project are Downtown Tampa, Poly County, Walt Disney World, the Orange County Convention Center and Orlando International Airport.
