The range of exciting holiday experiences and a diversity of climate and habitats have kept Kenya as a leading tourist destination in Africa over the years, according to one expert.
The variance in the East African country’s geography – featuring beautiful coastlines along the Indian Ocean and vast plains abundant with exotic wildlife – was noted as a main draw for international tourists by Angie Sloan, regional director of the Kenya Tourist Board.
“Kenya is world famous for its diverse range and sheer volume of wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and Indian Ocean coastline,” she said.
Even when travelling to the capital and largest city of Nairobi, outdoor adventures will not be far away, as the city itself is home to a national park. Here, holidaymakers can engage in guided explorations, finding unique creatures such as leopards and giraffes.
Sloan also stated that the country boasts almost 60 such national parks and reserves, and was a “land of endless potential” for nature lovers looking to explore natural environs.
One unique and popular way of exploring the wilderness is by travelling via hot air balloon, which can be an awe-inspiring experience.
“The first rays of morning light throw a golden blanket over the Maasai Mara as wild animals roam the plains below,” Claudia Stuart, co-owner of Mara Bushtops Safari Camp, told Kuoni Travel.
“It’s a truly unbelievable sight.”
Travellers need not be limited to these types of excursions, however, as Kenya “offers safari and coast combinations which are very popular with the UK traveller, as many want to relax on the beach as well,” Ms Sloan said.
