Egypt, Eiffel Tower provide best holiday snaps, survey shows

Holidaymakers abroad love to document their trips with snaps to remember the experience, and the bigger the attraction, the better the photo memories, it has been suggested by a recent poll, which named the Pyramids of Egypt as a top landmark British tourists love to photograph.

The big names for holidays around the world all showed up on the survey, and especially high on the rankings were the prestigious Big Ben in London, the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in the United States, which beckons those on holidays in New York from a tiny island just a short distance from Manhattan, New York’s metropolitan centre.

Bonfire Night sparks interest in holidays in London and beyond

A night as steeped in history as to match Halloween’s mystery and lore, Bonfire Night makes London and other cities across England and the UK a special place to be on an early November night. Sandals Resorts named top hotels in the Caribbean

For the 17th year running, there’s no better hotel chain in the Caribbean Sea islands than those operated by Sandals Resorts, it’s been said by World Travel Awards authorities. Announced 22 October at the 17th annual World Travel Awards Americas Gala in Westmoreland, Jamaica, the travel board confirmed Sandals as the best chain throughout the event’s existence.

Combined with its sister venture, Beaches Resorts, Sandals took home plenty of honours for achievement in the accommodation and travel sectors. The company is based in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and is a regional powerhouse for facilitating beach holidays in the Caribbean islands.

Naturalist praises Disney World Orlando for sustainable tourism

Walt and Ron Disney, in putting together the world-famous theme park Disney World Orlando – which has been populated for years by lovable, iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse, as well as kids of all ages – were vanguards in the field of sustainable tourism, according to an internationally recognised naturalist.

Survey finds Switzerland tops for hitting the slopes

Winter is coming – and in anticipation of the colder season, skiing enthusiastic have been plotting out their ski breaks for the upcoming months. And, according to a recent survey, Switzerland has taken the top spot as the most appealing destination for those looking to hit the slopes on a winter holiday.

Polling more than 1,300 travellers, social network WAYN found the Swiss Alps to be the most enticing destination for skiers, with great ski resorts near Geneva and Basel triumphing over trips to nearby Austria and France.

Dubai tourism body rebrands the city to entice holidaymakers

Hoping to spur interest in the already popular Middle Eastern destination, tourism officials in the emirate of Dubai have altered their slogan for the modern, cosmopolitan city, rebranding tourism efforts simply as “Definitely Dubai.”

Officials created the new identity in-house, and hope to use it to highlight the many spectacular offerings on holidays in Dubai, such as marketing it as a premier destination for winter sun holidays or luxurious stays at the city’s many fine hotels, including the Burj Al Arab, the largest single-use hotel in the world, which also happens to be in the shape of a giant sail.

UK Post Office reveals top-value long haul destinations

A new report released by the Post Office’s Travel Money bureau has revealed the best-value destinations for long haul holidays for British travellers, and found Mexico to be among the top three destinations for holidays, along with Sri Lanka and Kenya.

Hoping to highlight for British holidaymakers the best choices for upcoming winter sun holidays, the organisation found that options such as beach holidays in Cancun could be tops for travellers from Europe looking for a lower-cost get away where they could soak up the sun for less.
