Croatian coastal city Dubrovnik wows Mirror travel writer

Taking a cruise throughout the Mediterranean Sea was reportedly a first for the Mirror travel writer Nigel Thompson, but the scribe was reportedly surprised by the experience, as well as bowled over by the Eastern European appeal of Croatia’s coastal resort town of Dubrovnik.

Thompson described Dubrovnik as a “charming old city,” and even though he and his family visited during the peak tourist season of August, they were able to find comfort and solace – as well as something to eat – at some of the off-the-beaten-path restaurants of the city.

London City selected as one of the best approaches in the world

London City Airport, the most centralised airport in the capital city region located near the Docklands has been named as having one of the best approaches in the world for flights landing over the city, with officials noting arriving visitors will be able to catch a glimpse of several world-famous London landmarks when coming to the airport.

Out of the top ten listing, which was compiled by private hire jet booking company Privatefly.com, the only other entry representing the United Kingdom was the Barra Airport in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, where planes land directly on the beach.

Guardian critic dazzled by Florence exhibit of Bronzino

Bronzino was heralded as a superb artist by the Medici family – the most influential family in Florence, and perhaps Italy, for several hundred years – and they commissioned the painter – real name Agnolo di Cosimo di Mariano – to produce many pieces of fine art over the course of his life.
