London City Airport ramps up take-offs and landings

The airport at the centre of the capital, London City Airport, will be helping more domestic and international visitors depart and arrive to London in the near future, as it has announced a 40 per cent increase in the size of its airside departures area in February.

The moves come ahead of the London Summer Olympics in 2012, for which all of the city has been redeveloping and rethinking services in order to accommodate the large number of expected tourists taking holidays in London during the games.

Paris’ Versailles Palace to incorporate luxury hotel on grounds

A major historical and architectural attraction in Paris – and famous the world-round, it has been announced that a building on the ground of the Palace of Versailles will be converted into a luxury hotel in the near future, adding to the already formidable cache of high-end accommodation in the City of Lights.

The palace’s satellite building Hotel du Grand Controle, has traditionally been home to the treasurers of the estate, but will soon be converted to a 23-bedroom luxury experience for those on holidays in Paris wishing to stay at a historical hotel on the grounds of one of the country’s prized attractions.

Las Vegas expects rise in winter holiday arrivals

Located in the North American Desert, Las Vegas makes a sunny getaway for those looking for a winter sun holiday, and officials expect 2010 to bring an increase in visitors to the city in the sands, even over the Christmas holiday.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, some 260,000 are expected to make their way to Sin City for a holiday in Las Vegas over the weekend, compared to 249,000 in 2009 – an increase of 4.4 per cent for the holiday.

Several ‘cool’ hotels set to open doors in London Town in 2011

Perhaps gearing up for the anticipated bump in international arrivals and lodgers for the London Summer Olympics in 2012, a score of ‘cool’ hotels will open their doors in London at different points throughout 2011, according to Hotel Chatter.

While the Four Seasons in London has been a fixture in the city for years, the hotel has been undergoing renovations in recent times, but will be staged for a grand re-opening in the New Year, one of the first openings in the capital for the year. With bookings being taken for dates after 15 January, the Four Seasons could make for a great city break in London at any time of the year.

Thailand: 2010′s tourism comeback kid
