Cost effective Larnaca leads the way in value for money summer holidays.

The Cypriot resort of Larnaca is currently one of the most competitively priced destinations around, according to a new report.

Other resorts include the island of Malta and Bodrum in Turkey; both of whom have seen benefits from a drop in costs whereas other countries, especially those in the EU, have seen rises.

North East holiday makers choose Spain, but for how much longer?

Spain is the most popular destination for holidaymakers in the North East, with three quarters of a million people flying from the region last year.

According to figures provided by the Civil Aviation Authority, over 4.3 million passengers departed from Newcastle airport for 108 destinations in 2010 with Spanish resorts topping the charts.

The Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks Festivals continue to put together an exciting line-up of acts with the inclusion of Marc Ronson and Scots rockers Biffy Clyro. Ronson will play Mallorca on Tuesday 12 July.

The next day, Ronson will visit Ibiza the next day. Biffy Clyro will play at Ibiza on 19 and 20 July.

Fine Easter weather to help break UK records

Britain basked in the seaside sun over the Easter weekend, with temperatures reaching 30C (86F) and contributing to potentially the hottest April on record, sending Britons to beaches such as Blackpool near Manchester.

However the holiday period isn’t over with many visitors taking flights to London for the Royal Wedding and many British families enjoying traditional seaside holidays in Blackpool, Brighton and the like.

Paris gears up for the Tennis’s gruelling French Open

From the 17 May to 5 June, Paris will play host to one of the biggest tournaments in world tennis, The French Open.

Held on the clay courts of the Stade Roland Garros since 1928, the French Open is one of the most important tournaments in world tennis, with Wimbledon in London, the US Open and the Australian Open being the three other highly prized tournaments that constitute the famous ‘Grand Slam’.

EU to lift liquid ban at all European Airports

A directive has been put in place by the European Union with an April 2013 deadline for the lifting of the ban on liquids in containers greater than 100 millilitres, according to the BBC. Yet due to security reasons, flights to the UK will still have restrictions placed upon them.

The gradual removal of these regulations has reportedly already started. This Friday will see the lifting of restrictions on some duty-free purchases of transfer passengers at EU airports outside the United Kingdom.

Business travel and galleries boost Paris travel

According to the latest figures on the industry, France has posted positive growth figures for holiday visitors as the country’s tourism industry – one of the largest in the world – continues its path toward pre-economic recession numbers.

France generally attracts the most holiday visitors of any country in the world, based off the appeal of Paris, but also due to the variety of experiences to be found in the nation, such as sunny beach holidays on the French Riviera or skiing the Alps during the winter season.

“Mega Dinosaurs” take Manhattan in new exhibit

Those with an interest in natural history and science will have a compelling reason to visit the American Museum of Natural History on their next holiday in New York – a very, very big reason by all accounts, as the largest dinosaurs to ever roam the earth invade the gallery space.

Scientists reckon some of the dinosaurs – or ‘mega dinosaurs’ as they’re referred to – could grow to the length of several coaches. The centrepiece of the exhibit – a model of a Mamenchisaurus – measures 60 feet long (about 18 metres) and stood at a height of 11 feet (about 3.5 metres), which would tower above any human.
