The Taj Palace hotel in Dubai will run the first Goan Food Festival from the 19 to 30 July. The festival will feature the culinary skills of the well-known Goan Chef Urbano de Rego, flying over from the Taj Holiday Village in Goa to introduce his cuisine to the diners of Dubai.
De Rego will be assembling a full menu of his specialist dishes and cooking them at lunch and dinnertime every day throughout the festival.
“Chef Rego is one of the best Goan chefs there is and we are very excited to have him here in Dubai showcasing his extraordinary skills,” said Andreas Mueller, the general manager at the Taj Palace Hotel Dubai.
“He has more than 30 years’ experience cooking Goan food and is a popular figure throughout Goa.”
Diners will be treated to some of De Rego’s signature dishes, such as Camarao Tigre con Cilantro – consisting of Tiger Prawns in coriander, pomfret recheado and stuffed crab meat in a crab shell. The Goan menu will be served daily in the hotel’s Handi Indian restaurant from noon to 3pm and from 7 to 11pm.
The hotel in Dubai is situated in the middle of Deira and just a short distance away from the Metro station and other main transport hubs. The Taj Palace Hotel has four restaurants featuring Arabic, Italian, Japanese and Indian food.
The Goan Food Festival will also coincide with the Dubai Summer Surprises Shopping Festival and a Taj Palace promotion on executive room rates.
