South Africa boosts holiday appeal with ‘My Mission’ campaign

An initiative has been launched by South African tourism authorities to encourage British holidaymakers to create their perfect holiday. South Africa Tourism’s ‘My Mission’ campaign lets people considering a holiday in South Africa to choose their favourite destinations in the country. The campaign will then assist you in getting the most out of visiting those South African locations.

Additionally, South Africa Tourism plans to follow the travels of four British tourists visiting South Africa for the first time in order to support the campaign.

“People can tell us exactly how they want to experience our destination – the campaign will focus on four key attributes of our destination: adventure, wildlife and safari, culture and heritage, and affordable luxury,” the agency’s UK marketing and communications manager, Ntsiki Mpulo, said.

“This is the first time that we have undertaken a campaign of this nature in this market. And it is the first time we have undertaken a campaign of this magnitude.”

Groups the agency will reportedly try to target include the backpackers and gap year takers of Britain. The Year Out Group, an association of a number of top gap year-planning organisations, has shown South Africa as the most popular destination among its backpacking members for the last four years.

The authority also plans to feature a number of South African celebrities in its campaign to help with the promotion. This will include the newly married Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, who are currently honeymooning in the city of Durban.
