Tourism Australia and TripAdvisor join forces

Tourism Australia, the Australian tourist board, has joined forces with travel reviews website TripAdvisor. The new partnership allows the Tourism Australia site to incorporate travel reviews and other associated user content into its already award-winning website.

As part of the agreement, content from TripAdvisor that relates to key Australian destinations such as Melbourne and Sydney, are fed to the Nothing Like Australia website. The content is powered by Australian Data Warehouse (ATDW).

“We are delighted to be working with ATDW and look forward to our trusted content helping even more travellers experience the best that Australia has to offer,” said Maud Laurent of TripAdivisor.

Tourism Australia Executive General Manager Nick Baker said he believes this partnership will make it easier for visitors to discover the best of Australia.

“With the help of TripAdvisor, visitors are now able to read reviews from fellow travellers on the best things to see and do in over 30,000 great Australian holiday experiences on NothinglikeAustralia.com,” he said.

This is the first time TripAdvisor has collaborated with a tourism data warehouse, highlighting the increasing use and trust of user-generated content by the Australian tourism industry.

“Today’s consumers seek out user-generated reviews to validate their product choices, so it is fantastic that Tourism Australia is embracing this modern ‘word of mouth’ marketing opportunity,” said the CEO of ATDW, Liz Ward.

“ATDW is proud to enable this online marketing initiative that makes it easier for consumers to find the information that they want.”

This initiative builds upon the work Tourism Australia has already undertaken, using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter in promoting the country to potential visitors from around the world.
