Train gives passengers a new view of India

The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey is leaving the platform in Mumbai and offering travellers a new way to discover India.

The train’s seven-day itinerary will bring passengers to world heritage sites and iconic attractions Ajanta and Ellora, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, making stops in Ranthambore, Udaipur and Jaipur en route to its final destination in Delhi.

Passengers wishing to tour India in the lap of luxury can unwind in the climate-controlled suites or spend time in one of the 11 guest coaches.

Each room is specially fitted to provide guests with a comfortable living space, and on-board facilities are designed to keep guests entertained while on board.

Guests can choose from silver-, gold-, or platinum-class travel on the seven-day all-inclusive journey, with gold and platinum classes benefitting from a private chauffeur-driven service at each of the stops on the train tour.

Guests who don’t opt for chauffeur service will travel by coach to each destination site, and passengers on the Deccan Odyssey will be assisted by an English-speaking guide.

On board amenities include spa services, a gymnasium, world-class butler and housekeeping service and an all-day dining restaurant.

Already voted one of the ‘World’s Top 25 Trains’ by The Society of International Railway Travellers, The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey has also been winner of Asia’s Leading Luxury Train in 2010 and nominated again in 2011.

Director of Travel Corporation India, the company responsible for the Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey, said: “This is a key initiative in the hugely potential Indian domestic market.”

“The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey is a perfect blend of heritage, opulence and hospitality making for a truly exotic experience for the discerning Indian traveller.”
