Tasilli restaurant wows Tennerfest

Travellers in Jersey are grabbing their knives and forks and sampling the best island cuisines at this year’s Tennerfest food festival.

One of the most exciting restaurants taking part is the Grand Jersey hotel’s Michelin-starred Tassili restaurant – one of the few hotels in Jersey with restaurants to be awarded this distinction.

To gain a Michelin Star, restaurants are visited anonymously by inspectors several times to check quality and consistency – the impartial judging system is part of the reason the award is so prestigious.

Executive head chef Richard Allen said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have been awarded a Michelin Star. The accolade is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication, for which I owe my team a great deal of thanks. I truly believe that you are no one without the support of your team.

“Achieving a Michelin Star has been my lifelong goal and I cannot begin to describe how much it means to me and to the team at Grand Jersey. I look forward to developing Tassili further in the future and providing a great service to our guests.”

The annual Tennerfest is Jersey’s largest food festival, letting visitors sample gastric delights from more than 184 restaurants in the Channel Islands over the course of a month.

Fixed price menus let restaurant patrons taste the best dishes from each restaurant without breaking the bank, and the focus of the festival itself is on fresh local produce and modern British dishes.

The Channel Islands Tennerfest runs until 14 November.
