Dubai takes on Mission Impossible

The city of Dubai is set to get a boost in tourism with the release of the highly anticipated Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Ghost Protocol is the latest release in the Mission Impossible franchise, and has been given new life as a result of some exciting settings.

Travellers on holiday in Dubai will be able to visit all the different spots in the city where the movie was filmed – including the towering Burj Khalifa tower.

For a special scene in the film, Tom Cruise – who stars in the franchise – scales the 828m building, giving moviegoers an amazing 360 degree view of Dubai.

Cruise spoke of his experience filming on location in Dubai. He said: “Dubai is an exceptionally beautiful and very family friendly location.

“My family and I spent our evenings at the water park, go-karting, indoor skiing, shopping, scuba diving, camel riding, desert dune bashing, and we still didn’t fit in all there is to enjoy.”

Cinephiles aren’t the only group who will find Dubai an exciting destination – the city boasts some of the most luxurious hotels, shops and restaurants in the world, and is known for its larger-than-life architecture and modern cityscape.

“This movie will expose Dubai to a young audience and highlights a fun and adventurous aspect to the Emirate that we expect will appeal to tourists,” Director of Dubai Tourism Australia Julie King said.

“It showcases the scale of the world’s tallest building and showcases the amazing architecture of the building and its surrounds.”

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is set to be released in December 2011.
