Hogwarts goes to Hollywood

Potterfans in Los Angeles will soon have a new way to experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Universal Studios theme park has announced they will build a Harry Potter attraction, building on the overwhelming popularity of the Harry Potter theme park at its Universal Studios theme park in Orlando.

Speaking about the success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Universal Studios president Ron Meyer said it made sense to bring the same attraction to Hollywood. “It was a game changer for us and frankly for Orlando,” he said.

In conjunction with this, developers at Universal Studio have also announced a “significant expansion” to the existing attraction in Florida.

“The expansion in Orlando will make it that much more of a must-see, and we’ll have the same experience here,” Meyer said.

The Hollywood attraction will feature a replica of Hogwarts castle and Hogsmeade village, along with other rollercoaster and themed rides, as well as shops, restaurants and costumed actors.

“Harry Potter is one of the most universally recognised brands in the world. The books and films are among the most powerful stories of our time,” Meyer said.

Few other details were shared at the initial announcement, but it is expected the new attraction will open within 3 to 4 years.

Fans of the popular series are already getting excited about the Hollywood theme park – speculating what surprises are in store at Hollywood’s Wizarding World and planning to visit when the park officially opens.

“There are now eight films behind us and the future of Harry Potter is looking brighter today than ever with this announcement of the Wizarding World coming to Hollywood,” Warner Bros chairman and CEO Barry Meyer said.

“We are now truly entering the next phase of what Harry Potter will mean to its loyal and committed audience.”
