Holidaymakers will soon be able to experience the thrill of movies in real-life at a new theme park in Dubai.
Real estate company Meraas has announced plans to build a two million square foot movie theme park that will feature latest-in-technology games and new-generation rides, as well as food and beverage outlets.
The Dubai Adventure Studios will be located near the Arabian Ranches on the outskirts of Dubai.
Meraas said in a statement that the park is designed to take advantage of the growing number of tourists visiting the Middle East metropolis.
“Meraas recognises the need for a theme park in Dubai that will complement the UAE’s growing popularity as a tourism hub,” Sina Al Kazim, chief business development officer at Meraas, told Gulf News.
“Dubai Adventure Studios will offer a truly unique experience that will set a distinctive benchmark in the evolution of the theme park industry.”
The move is part of a larger plan by the government to reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading tourism and entertainment hub, and joins a growing list of theme parks already in progress, including Dubai Sports City, Motor City, Tiger Woods Dubai, Universal Studios Dubai, City of Arabia, Falcon City of Wonders and the Global Village.
Meraas was set up in 2007 and has been working to reshape Dubai’s urban landscape. The real estate company focuses on developing holistic customer-centric communities, where people can work, live and play in an integrated environment.
Construction on the Dubai Adventure Studios is due to begin in 2012 and the theme park is likely to be completed in 2014.
