Art lovers with an interest in Chinese art are travelling to Hong Kong to add to their collections and participate in art auctions around the city-state.
Though Hong Kong has long been a hub of Chinese art, the market has heated up in the last year with well-known collectors like Steve Wynn setting records for pricey art. Bidding values are up, and more and more rare pieces are being put on the market.

Three influential museums that attract large numbers of visitors on Amsterdam city breaks are in the process of getting a ‘facelift’ to help the museums appeal to more modern audiences.
Visitors can already visit the newly reopened National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam – closed to the public in 2007, renovations cost 75.5 million euros and has already attracted 250,000 visitors since it officially opened its doors last October.

A new musical based on the life and career of singer Susan Boyle has opened to critical acclaim in Newcastle.
I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Musical follows the singer’s life from her childhood in West Lothian Scotland to her rise to fame after her breakthrough performance in 2009 on the television programme Britain’s Got Talent.

The title is awarded to cities based on their use of design as a tool for cultural, social and economic development, and the program itself is recognised around the world for acknowledging the way design impacts human life.

The Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh has reopened to the public following an extensive renovation to prepare for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Though the games will be predominantly held in Glasgow, Edinburgh will play host to several key swim events at the Commonwealth Pool, and will also host the British Olympic team as they enter into the final months of their training.

MPs are proposing a renaming ceremony for one of the most iconic landmarks in London in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
A group of lawmakers have proposed renaming the “Big Ben” clock tower at the Houses of Parliament tower to mark the Diamond Jubilee in June and celebrate and pay tribute to the Queen’s 60 years of service.
